Soul, mind and body united in praise of God

"Gregorian chant is the earliest music that we can transcribe accurately.  Its first notation dates back to the ninth century.  Unhappily, most Catholic churches no longer sing it because it is in Latin, and no Protestant churches sing it because it sounds Catholic.  But the chant is the sound that carried the Christian message for 1500 years before there even were any Protestants.  Perhaps in the new millennium we might all be grateful enough for the last 2000 years that any church could include an appropriate excerpt of chant, sung in the original Latin, with the biblical translation in the bulletin."
